Closures/Shocks On the Closure/Shock page you specify •the closures and shocks for the base case in columns 1 and 2 respectively of the table; •the closures and extra shocks for the policy deviation in columns 3 and 4 respectively of the table. If you are rerunning the base case, the closures used are the policy closures (those in column 3 of the table). In each cell of the table, you specify the name of the file which specifies the closure or shocks for the particular year. You can specify the name of the file associated with each cell by right-clicking on the cell and using the menu which appears. File names on this page can now have up to 9 characters (plus 3-character suffix). [Prior to Version 3.15 (November 2006), at most 8 characters were allowed before the suffix.] You can no longer type in names of files on this page -- rather you need to select files using the menu obtained when you right click on a cell. Normally you put the shocks for different years on different files. However, if you are using Release 9 or later of GEMPACK, you can put shocks for several years on a single header in a Header Array file, and instruct RunDynam to read the shocks for the relevant year. New on this page from Version 3.15 (November 2006) are the Common row and the CMFSTART row. All Closure and Shocks files named on the Closure/Shock page must be in the Working Directory (as specified on the Sim Overview page). Otherwise the software will not run the base case or policy deviation. The file names in the cells on this page are colour coded for quick feedback. If a cell is red, the file does not exist (in the Working Directory). If a cell is green, the file exists but one of its constituents is missing. If a cell is black (the desired colour), this means that the file and all of its constituents are available. When you think you have all files ready for running the base case, click on the Run Base Case button near the bottom of the screen. Similarly for running the policy simulations (use the Run Policy button) or for rerunning the base case with the policy closures (use the ReRun Base button). The policy run requires several files produced when you ran the base case (or reran the base case with the policy closures). Hence it is important not to delete or change files from these earlier runs before you carry out the policy run. When you click on the Run Policy button or the ReRun Base button, the software carries out time and date checks to see if the relevant files from the previous runs are still as they should be: if not, you are told what has changed and that you must carry out the earlier runs again. For information about the buttons Run Base, Rerun Base, Run Policy and Run All which are always visible near the bottom of the screen, see Run Buttons.
