Checks that Base Case files are Ok for Policy Run The Policy Run follows on from the Base Case and it is not possible to run the Policy simulations until you have completed a successful run of the Base Case. After the Base Case Run, various files used in producing the base case and the solutions produced should not be changed. This is because the shocks given to the exogenous variables in the Policy Run are found from the Base case Solution Files plus any additional shocks used to represent the policy changes you are simulating. The Base case files required for the policy run are checked to see if they have been changed since the base case was run. If any have changed, you are alerted to the fact that a change has occurred and told which files have changed. Before you can run the simulation for any year of the Policy (or the Base Rerun), a .BOT file (which contains the relevant shocks to the exogenous variables in the policy simulations corresponding to the base case) is created. You should not change or delete these BOT files in the period between rerunning the base case and running the policy simulations.
