Specifying Closure or Shocks files If you want several of these to be the same, you can specify the name of the first one (by right-clicking, as described below). Then highlight those below it which are to be the same, which you do by clicking on the first cell below and then dragging (ie, holding the mouse button down) across the other relevant cells. Once you have the relevant ones highlighted, click on the button As Previous near the bottom of the page. You can select the name of one of these files for any particular year by right-clicking on the relevant cell. Then select the appropriate option from the pop-up menu which appears. You can •specify or change the name of the file via menu item Select, •specify that the Common file applies via menu item Common. [This option is only available in period-specific cells. It is not available in the CMFSTART and Common rows.] •specify none via menu item None. [This option is only available in the Policy Shocks column or in the CMFSTART and Common rows.] •look at its contents (or change its contents) via menu item Edit, •check to see if the constituent files named in the file exist (via menu item Check Files Named Here). [If not, you will be told the names of the constituent files which are not present.] •ask the software to check if the closure or closure and shocks are valid for a particular year (via menu item Check Closure if you are in a Closure column or via menu item Check Closure and Shocks if you are in a Shocks column). [In this case, the program which solves the model will read the statements in the Closure file or Closure and Shocks files and try to set up the closure, and read the shocks if appropriate.] •If you are in a Closure column, you can ask the software to check the closure and to save an Environment file for that closure (menu item Check Closure, Save Environment File). •ask the software to load the relevant closure and shocks into AnalyseGE if you right-click on a cell in the Base Closure or Policy Closure columns. •ask the software to load all Closure/Shocks files for the cells you have selected into your text editor. Do this via menu item Edit files in selected cells. For example, you can select a rectangular group of cells on the Closure/Shocks page by clicking on one cell and then, holding the Shift key on your keyboard down, clicking on another cell. The menu item Edit files in selected cells loads the relevant .CLS file for cells in the two Closure columns or the relevant .BSH or .PSH file for cells in the two Shocks columns into your text editor. [This option is only available if you are using TABmate as your editor.] If you are in the Policy shocks column (column 4), you can also select menu item None to indicate that there are no extra policy shocks for this year. This page shows possible patterns you might like to follow for the names of these files.
