Restoring Results Files as well as Ingredients

Suppose that you have an application which you wish to pass on to a colleague.

You can pass on to your colleague the ingredients by saving a Zip Archive of all the ingredients. If your colleague restores from this Zip Archive, he or she can run all jobs and should get exactly the results you obtained.

But what if you want to also send your results to the colleague to save him or her having to run the results? You can do this by zipping up all results (use menu item Zip up All Results under the Zip menu) and then sending the Results zip file to your colleague.

Your colleague should first restore all ingredients from the Zip Archive to some directory (preferably a new directory if this is a new application for your colleague). At the end of this restoring process, your colleague should say that they want to load the restored Simulation Details. Then the Simulation Details you have sent will be shown on their Model/Data, Sim Overview and Closure/Shocks pages.

Then your colleague can restore the results (using menu item Restore files from Results Zip under the Zip menu). When asked what to do about the Record of Runs files, your colleague should tell RunDynam to change the Record of Runs files to reflect the current Working Directory and the current Model and Data files (as loaded from your Zip Archive). If so, when your colleague asks Are Results Still Ok? [either version], the answer should be that all results are as they were when you produced them. Similarly, if your colleague asks Where To Start? [either version], the answer should be that all have been run ok. This is so even though your colleague has not run any of the jobs on his or her own machine -- the jobs were run on your machine.

This restoring of results files so that Are Results Still Ok? gives the expected answer only applies when the Results Zip file has been produced by Version 3.1 (December 2003) or later of RunDynam. Zip Results files made by earlier versions of RunDynam did not include the absolute time and date information needed to restore results and ingredients files exactly as they were when the zip files were made.
