Getting Started

Hands-on introductions to AnalyseGE are available. We strongly recommend that you work through one of these documents before you start using AnalyseGE to analyse the results from your own model.

Normally AnalyseGE is used to investigate the results of a simulation (that is, the cumulative results). In this case

you need to do is tell AnalyseGE the name of the Solution file from the simulation you wish to analyse. The associated .SLC file must have the same name and be in the same directory.

AnalyseGE obtains the values of variables from the Solution file and the pre-simulation values of the coefficients from the SLC file. [Alternatively you can use post-simulation or the average of pre-simulation and post-simulation values for the Coefficients if the relevant files are available.]

Note that the Solution file must be one produced using Release 7.0 (or later) of GEMPACK.

Normally you analyse the cumulative results from the simulation. Alternatively, you can load and analyse the results of a subtotal solution.

Alternatively AnalyseGE can be used to examine the values of Coefficients and expressions in a data manipulation TABLO Input file. In this case

you tell AnalyseGE the name of the Coefficient Values (CVL) file created when you ran GEMSIM or the TABLO-generated program to carry out the data manipulation tasks.

AnalyseGE obtains the values of Coefficients from the CVL file.

Note that the CVL file must be one produced using Release 8.0 (or later) of GEMPACK.

Use the Select/Change button on the AnalyseGE form to select the Solution or CVL file or to change to a different one.

When you select a Solution or CVL file, AnalyseGE extracts the TABLO Input file (TAB file) from the Solution or CVL file and displays it in the TABmate form. AnalyseGE also extracts the Command file used for the simulation; you can look at this via the View menu on the AnalyseGE form.

You can then specify expressions to be evaluated and look at their values by switching between the 3 forms which make up AnalyseGE.
