Are Results Still OK? There are two alternatives for this. In each case you select which results you want checked. For both of these alternatives, RunDynam uses the information stored in the Record of Runs files corresponding to the Sim Names currently showing on the Sim Overview page. Are Results Ok? Be the Same if Run Again This checks how far the jobs have been completed in sequence. It also checks how far the same results would be obtained if you run all the jobs again. If you ask to check the default set of results (that is, year-on-year and differences spreadsheets, Solution and SLC files, updated data files and Other Output Data files), this menu item does exactly the same checking as the menu item Where To Start? Results Be the Same if Ran Again Are Results Ok? Still as when Created This does not check if the jobs have been completed in sequence. Nor does it make any attempt to check if the same results would be obtained if you run the jobs again. It simply checks how far the results you have asked to be checked are the same as the results when you last ran the simulations and spreadsheet jobs. For example, suppose that you have asked for the Solution files to be checked. Then RunDynam looks at its Record of Runs and checks the Solution files currently on the disk to see if each is the same (that is, has the same time, date and size) as the Solution file produced when you last ran the relevant simulation. What is the difference between these two reports? Suppose, for example, that you completed years 1-8 of the Base in sequence but that you subsequently changed the Base Shocks for year 3 and then ran years 3-5 again. Then the first report (which checks whether the jobs have been run in sequence and checks if the same results files would be produced if you run all the jobs again) will tell you that the results are ok as far as the simulation for year 5 of the Base. This is because, if you ran the simulation for year 6 of the Base again, you would probably get different results since you have subsequently changed the Base Shocks for year 3.] The second report (which does not check whether the same results files would be produced if you run all the jobs again) will tell you that the results are ok as far as the simulation for year 8 of the Base. [This is because, for example, the Solution file from the simulation for year 6 of the Base is the same as was created the last time you ran that simulation. However, if you run that simulation again, you would probably get different results since you have subsequently changed the Base Shocks for year 3.] We suggest that it is normally the first report you should take most notice of. However, occasionally you may know that the apparent change in prerequisites or results files is cosmetic only (for example, you may have changed the date of the Base Shocks file for year 3 by adding a comment, which does not really change its contents). In that case you may prefer to take notice of the second report. After you have read the report, you are asked if you wish to complete the remaining parts of the complete application. [If you only wish to carry out some but not all of what remains, there are several ways of doing that.] Printing the Report Sometimes the reasons given in the report are long and complicated. It is easy to print the report. URL of this topic: www.copsmodels.com/webhelp/rundynam/hc_resultsstillok.htm Link to full GEMPACK Manual Link to GEMPACK homepage |
