Where to Start ?

There are two alternatives for this. For both of these alternatives, RunDynam uses the information stored in the Record of Runs files corresponding to the Sim Names currently showing on the Sim Overview page.

Where To Start? Results Be the Same if Run Again

This checks how far the jobs have been completed in sequence. It also checks how far the same results would be obtained if you run all the jobs again.

This menu item does exactly the same checking as the menu item Are Results Ok? Be the Same if Run Again when the default set of results (that is, year-on-year and differences spreadsheets, Solution and SLC files, updated data files and Other Output Data files) are selected for checking when this latter menu item is processed.

Note that LOG files from simulations are not checked as when you select Where To Start? Check Prerequisites.

Where To Start? Just Check Run in Sequence

This reports how far the jobs have been completed in sequence. It makes no attempt to check prerequisites or to check that the same results would be obtained if you run the jobs again.

What is the difference between these two reports?

Suppose, for example, that you completed years 1-4 of the Base in sequence but that you then deleted or changed one of the updated data files produced during the simulation for year 3. Then the first report (which checks prerequisites and results) will tell you that you should start at year 3 of the Base. The second (which ignores prerequisites and results files) will tell you that you can start at year 5 of the Base.

We suggest that it is normally the first report you should take most notice of. However, occasionally you may know that the apparent change in prerequisites or results files is cosmetic only (for example, you may have changed the date of one of the Closure files on the Closure/Shocks page but not changed its contents). In that case you may prefer to take notice of the second report.

After you have read the report, you are asked if you wish to complete the remaining parts of the complete application. [If you only wish to carry out some but not all of what remains, there are several ways of doing that.]

Printing the Report

Sometimes the reasons given in the report are long and complicated. It is easy to print the report.
