Arithmetic Problems while Doing Spreadsheet Jobs

The GEMPACK programs ACCUM and DEVIA are used to calculate results when forming up spreadsheet files. The GEMPACK program CMBHAR is used to calculate results when forming the RSL files used when you load cumulative results over several years or cumulative differences into AnalyseGE. These calculations are done during the spreadsheet job for each run.

By default, if any of these three programs encounters arithmetic problems (such as overflow), it ends with a fatal error. This can be annoying since it may prevent the spreadsheet files from being produced.

If you want RunDynam to ignore any arithmetic problems encountered by these programs during the spreadsheet jobs, you can select option Arithmetic problems not fatal for spreadsheet jobs under the Run Preferences menu. Then, if the program encounters an arithmetic problem, it inserts a somewhat arbitrary value for the component of the variable where this problem was encountered, and then continues.

[When this option is selected, RunDynam tells the programs to use option ANF (Arithmetic problems not fatal). For more details, ask for help about this option when you run one of the programs ACCUM, DEVIA or CMBHAR. The option ANF is only available for these programs in Release 9.0 or later of GEMPACK.]
