Setting the TMP Environment Variable

Setting the value of the Environment variable TMP may affect where RunDynam writes its temporary files though setting the value of Environment variable GPTEMP may be a better way to proceed.

If you change the value of Environment variable TMP, it is best to set this to point to a short directory name which does not contain spaces or non-English characters. For example, you could set

TMP to C:\MyTmp

Make sure that you are allowed to write files in the directory to which TMP points.

To see what Environment variables are set, open a Command prompt and type SET or SET | more

The default value for the User variable TMP in Windows XP is often set to

%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp

To set Environment variables in Windows XP, select My Computer, then right-mouse-click and select Properties | Advanced | Environment Variables

In Windows 7 you can set environment variables by selecting from Windows:

Start | Control Panel | System | Advanced | Environment Variables

More instructions for setting Environment variables may be found at:

If your User profile contains non-English characters, it may cause problems. You do not need to change your User-profile. You can set the User Environment variable TMP to be something simple like C:\TEMP.
