Periods of Length Greater Than 1 The lengths of the periods (as specified on the Sim Overview page) affect the years shown in the left-hand column on the Closure/Shocks page. As a result they also affect the names of various results files. But, apart from that, the software does nothing special about these lengths. In particular, the shocks applied during such periods are exactly those shown in the relevant Shocks file (as on the Closure/Shocks page). The shocks shown there are not compounded several times when the period exceeds one year. Example. Suppose you have two periods of lengths 2 and 5 years respectively and want to give a productivity shock of 2% per year throughout both these periods. Then you should enter shocks of (about) 4% and 10% respectively in the relevant shocks files.
