Carrying Out a Complete Policy Simulation

A complete policy simulation consists of 2 or 3 multi-year runs, namely the Base run, the Rerun of the Base (if being done) and the Policy run.

Each of these multi-year runs consists of a sequence of linked annual simulations.

When you have all the files ready for a complete policy simulation, you can carry out the whole simulation by selecting the item Run Base, Base Rerun and Policy from the Tasks menu. This will carry out the complete policy simulation. [Alternatively, if you are not rerunning the base case, the relevant menu item will be called Run Base and Policy.]

Alternatively, you may prefer to first carry out all of one multi-year run before starting the next one. In this case you can use the three Run Buttons which are visible near the bottom of the main form. For example, click on the Run Base Case button to start the multi-year Base run. When this finishes, click on the Rerun Base button to start the multi-year Rerun of the Base. When this finishes, you can click on the Run Policy button to start the multi-year Policy run.

You can also carry out several years of the complete policy simulation (for example, by clicking on the menu item Run Part Base, Same Part BaseRerun and Policy in the Tasks menu). For example, you could carry out the first 6 years of the Base, Rerun and Policy in this way.

Alternatively, if you want to carry out just part of a single multi-year run (for example, just the first two years of the base case), you can start this by selecting the relevant task (for example, Run part of the base case) under the Tasks menu item.

You can tell the software in which order you wish to carry out the different parts (annual simulations and spreadsheet jobs) of the complete policy simulation.
