RunDynam: Intermittent errors in zipping or restoring results

The Zip menu in RunDynam allows you to zip up (or restore) all results from a simulation. Occasionally users report intermittent errrors when doing this. They may get messages such as: "Invalid File: not a PKZip file".

Because the error is intermittent (ie, not repeatable) it is hard to track the cause. For large models with many time periods, the total size of all output files can be very large (several gigabytes). The zipping operation may be overloading computer resources! To avoid the problem, reduce the strain using one or more of the methods below:

• Use the RunDynam command Zip up Selected Results, selecting only SL4 files (not SLC or UPD).
• Make your SL4 files much smaller, by substituting (rather than backsolving) huge, many-dimensional, endogenous variables that you never look at or report.
• Close other programs.
• Switch off file indexing.
• Configure your AntiVirus program.

Any combination of the above tactics will make the job easier, and reduce the frequency of these intermittent errors.
