Starting SSA

Click on the menu item SSA wrt Parameters in the Tasks menu.

Just as in RunGEM or RunGTAP, you will be asked which parameters are varying and how they vary. You will also be asked which quadrature (Stroud's or Liu's) you wish to use. The quadrature affects how many complete solves the software must carry out.

There are two forms on which you specify details of the SSA run.

The first is the form (Set up Parameter sensitivity calculation) on which you indicate which parameters are varying and how they are varying.

The second is the form (Which quadrature to use?) on which you specify the quadrature (Stroud or Liu) to use. This form tells you how many solves are needed for each quadrature. Remember that with RunDynam each solve is a complete dynamic simulation (all periods of Base, Rerun and Policy).

When you say which quadrature you also specify what RunDynam calls the SSA Name. This name (maximum 5 characters) is used in the name of the main SSA results produced. [RunDynam tries to suggest a name like SSA23 or SA237 for you to use. The name it suggests is one which, if used, will not overwrite existing SSA results.]

When specifying which parameters are varying and how they are varying, you can read the details from a file. We call such files SSA Details files. See What's New in the RunGEM/RunGTAP SSA Help file for more details.

When you say which quadrature, there is a check box which allows you to keep the separate SSA parameter files used in the different SSA runs.
