Manage MMNZ Option By default, RunDynam attempts to manage the size of the MMNZ values used for LU decomposition. [This is what happens if Manage MMNZ is checked in the Run Preferences menu. Of course you can choose to suppress this management by unchecking that menu item.] The aim of this management is to speed up simulations when you forget to include start with MMNZ statements in your CMFSTART files or if you put values smaller than are needed in them. RunDynam gets information about the values needed in each simulation and uses that information for subsequent simulations. You can find information about MMNZ and start with MMNZ statements in section 13.3 of the Release 8 version of GEMPACK document GPD-3. Each time you run a simulation, RunDynam checks to see if the program (TABLO-generated program or GEMSIM) had to increase the size of MMNZ during the run in order to do the LU decomposition. If so, RunDynam will automatically increase MMNZ to about the same value when you run the next year of the simulation (Base, Rerun or Policy). RunDynam does so by adding its own start with MMNZ statements to the Command file it creates and comments out any start with MMNZ statements in the files you supply. After RunDynam finds it needs to increase MMNZ for one simulation, it keeps watch for all subsequent simulations and tries to adjust MMNZ values sensibly for these also. When RunDynam runs the first year of the Rerun or Policy, it looks at the corresponding year of the Base to decide if it needs to automatically increase MMNZ. With this management, hopefully all of your simulations, except possibly that for the first year of the Base, will always start with appropriate MMNZ values. Fine Print For this feature to work, you should only put start with MMNZ statements in your CMFSTART or Closure (Common or year-specific) files. And CMFSTART is the ideal place for them. RunDynam can only manage MMNZ in the way described above if you are using Release 10.0-002 or later of GEMPACK. For this feature to work, you should put all start with MMNZ statements on separate lines, each one beginning at the start of the line.
