The Centre of Policy Studies Knowledgebase

This website contains around 700 web pages relating to the work of the Centre of Policy Studies (CoPS), a group of CGE modellers based at Victoria University, Melbourne. The material includes:

• Many downloadable Working Papers.
• Extensive documentation of the GEMPACK software used for solving CGE models, developed at the unit.
• Details of CGE models constructed and used at CoPS.
• An archive of technical notes, presentations, articles, student theses, and databases.
• Details of training courses in CGE modelling.
• Sources for books published from CoPS.

Contract research and consulting

Latest CoPS news

• In February 2025, after more than 40 years working at several universities in Melbourne, Professor Mark Horridge retired. Mark plans to continue working much as usual in CoPS. Following Mark's stint of 18 years as Director GEMPACK Software Associate Professor Michael Jerie has taken over from Mark as Director.
• In February 2024, after 10 years as Director of CoPS, Professor James Giesecke has passed the helm to Professor Janine Dixon.
• Staff photo taken November 2023, nearly 10 years after CoPS moved to Victoria University. CoPS is located in the building behind, 300 Queen St. The building is heritage listed and is one of the oldest remaining domestic residences in the Melbourne CBD.
